Materials: Genuine, solid opal and Argentium Sterling Silver.
Argentium Sterling silver is a modern sterling silver alloy. It is a true Sterling silver and contains 92.5% silver just as all other Sterling Silvers do, however it has many advantages over normal Sterling Silver. Traditional Sterling is made with a 7.5% copper alloy to give it enough hardness to create jewelry with. Argentium Sterling Silver instead has an alloy of Germanium. This means that Argentium Sterling Silver is extremely tarnish resistant, is somewhat harder to scratch, and does not cause allergies in for most people that are sensitive to Sterling Silver. Nearly everyone that suffers from allergy problems with traditional Sterling Silver find that they do not experience problems with Argentium Sterling Silver. Further, because Argentium Sterling Silver does not produce firescale, it does not require chemical treatments like traditional sterling silver does and therefore is far more environmentally friendly.
Stone quality/specs: High polish crystal opal cut in an oval cabochon shape. Crystal opal (also called 'jelly' opal) refers to any type of natural opal that has a transparent or translucent body which allows light to pass through the stone. This stone in particular is translucent to semi-transparent. This opal is a solid, genuine natural opal mined in Australia and cut and polished by Daniel York.
Description: Wow! This is an opal unlike any I've seen yet. This is a fantastic, semi-transparent crystal opal, with craaazy violet colored fire distributed across the entire stone. In strong light you will also get a few flecks of dancing greens and reds! My camera really hated photographing this stone and could not read the colors properly. This stone just glistens with crazy ultaviolet colors, and in a beam of sunlight it glitters madly. Even my poor husband who really does not care much for jewelry was impressed by this stone. Because of its translucent nature, the color of the shirt you wear will have an impact on how this stone looks. Darker colors will make the purple stand out greater, while lighter colors will give the stone a pretty amber cast (see photos above). I wish words could tell you how much cooler this one is in person.
