Materials: Genuine, solid opal and Argentium Sterling Silver.
Argentium Sterling silver is a modern sterling silver alloy. It is a true Sterling silver and contains 92.5% silver just as all other Sterling Silvers do, however it has many advantages over normal Sterling Silver. Traditional Sterling is made with a 7.5% copper alloy to give it enough hardness to create jewelry with. Argentium Sterling Silver instead has an alloy of Germanium. This means that Argentium Sterling Silver is extremely tarnish resistant, is somewhat harder to scratch, and does not cause allergies in for most people that are sensitive to Sterling Silver. Nearly everyone that suffers from allergy problems with traditional Sterling Silver find that they do not experience problems with Argentium Sterling Silver. Further, because Argentium Sterling Silver does not produce firescale, it does not require chemical treatments like traditional sterling silver does and therefore is far more environmentally friendly.
Stone quality/specs: High polish crystal opal cut in an oval cabochon shape, with some comma shapes carved into the surface. Crystal opal (also called 'jelly' opal) refers to any type of natural opal that has a transparent or translucent body which allows light to pass through the stone. This stone in particular is translucent to semi-transparent. This opal is a solid, genuine natural opal mined in Australia and cut and polished by Daniel York.
Description: This is a unique one. This is a translucent crystal opal, with some dark body swirled in, that has not only been cut and polished but also carved! There is a pretty pattern carved into the front and back; the front has two reversed comma shapes, and the back has a single. The front carving could be described as a separated Taijitu (comonnly called "Yin-Yang"). Overall this solid opal sports lovely rolling violet fire, seen from nearly every direction. Very pretty against the darker (but still crystal) body of the opal! If you like purple and are looking for unique, this might be a pendant for you.
