Materials: Genuine, solid fire agate and Argentium Sterling Silver.
Argentium Sterling silver is a modern sterling silver alloy. It is a true Sterling silver and contains 92.5% silver just as all other Sterling Silvers do, however it has many advantages over normal Sterling Silver. Traditional Sterling is made with a 7.5% copper alloy to give it enough hardness to create jewelry with. Argentium Sterling Silver instead has an alloy of Germanium. This means that Argentium Sterling Silver is extremely tarnish resistant, is somewhat harder to scratch, and does not cause allergies in for most people that are sensitive to Sterling Silver. Nearly everyone that suffers from allergy problems with traditional Sterling Silver find that they do not experience problems with Argentium Sterling Silver. Further, because Argentium Sterling Silver does not produce firescale, it does not require chemical treatments like traditional sterling silver does and therefore is far more environmentally friendly.
Stone quality/specs: High polish fire agate with excellent colorplay. Note that fire agate is a chatoyant (irridescent) stone. The colors are created by light refracting within layers in the stone, and so the colors you see depend on the viewing angle. Some stones only show color from some angles. Keep in mind that these photos are meant to try and show these colors. This is a great stone with colorplay from all angles.
Description: Fire Agate! This is my only stone of this type to date. The gem is thought to be formed when hot water saturated with colloidal silica and iron oxide invades cavities in country rock and begin to cool. This gemstone is more rare than diamond, ruby or emerald. It rivals opal for it's glimmering fire and unlike opal, fire agate is a very hard stone and is tough to scratch or chip. High quality fire agate is valued more per carat than opal! This is a medium quality fire agate, with plenty of firey 'bubbles' of color, mostly green with hints of blue and a tiny bit of purple. The host agate is a lovely dark brick reddish brown. See the video!
