Materials: Genuine, solid ammonite and Argentium Sterling Silver.
Argentium Sterling silver is a modern sterling silver alloy. It is a true Sterling silver and contains 92.5% silver just as all other Sterling Silvers do, however it has many advantages over normal Sterling Silver. Traditional Sterling is made with a 7.5% copper alloy to give it enough hardness to create jewelry with. Argentium Sterling Silver instead has an alloy of Germanium. This means that Argentium Sterling Silver is extremely tarnish resistant, is somewhat harder to scratch, and does not cause allergies in for most people that are sensitive to Sterling Silver. Nearly everyone that suffers from allergy problems with traditional Sterling Silver find that they do not experience problems with Argentium Sterling Silver. Further, because Argentium Sterling Silver does not produce firescale, it does not require chemical treatments like traditional sterling silver does and therefore is far more environmentally friendly.
Stone quality/specs: Solid Ammonite with a fair polish. While not flawless, the stone is stable with no notable cracks, chips, or structural problems. A sheen of irridescent rainbow colors plays over the surface in some areas.
Ammonites are an amazing gemstone and fossil in one. Millions of years extinct, the ammonite's closest living relatives are not the nautilus but probably are modern squids. When these animals died, some of their shells became fossilized over millions and millions of years, replaced with minerals. More rarely, some of these shells once polished displayed an amazing array of iridescence, similar to opal. This is a precious gemstone and due to its organic origins from this extinct animal, it is extremely limited. Once the ammolite is gone it is gone! Truly high grade ammlolite can sell more per carat than even the most precious diamonds. This ammonite has only a smaller portion of iridescence.
Description: This cute little ammonite has a fine polish and displays a lovely shimmer of oily colors. A very nice little pendant for ammonite lovers!
