Materials: Genuine, solid opal and Argentium Sterling Silver.
Argentium Sterling silver is a modern sterling silver alloy. It is a true Sterling silver and contains 92.5% silver just as all other Sterling Silvers do, however it has many advantages over normal Sterling Silver. Traditional Sterling is made with a 7.5% copper alloy to give it enough hardness to create jewelry with. Argentium Sterling Silver instead has an alloy of Germanium. This means that Argentium Sterling Silver is extremely tarnish resistant, is somewhat harder to scratch, and does not cause allergies in for most people that are sensitive to Sterling Silver. Nearly everyone that suffers from allergy problems with traditional Sterling Silver find that they do not experience problems with Argentium Sterling Silver. Further, because Argentium Sterling Silver does not produce firescale, it does not require chemical treatments like traditional sterling silver does and therefore is far more environmentally friendly.
Stone quality/specs: A nicely polished Australian white opal with fair colorplay. Red fire in the stone, under the surface, flashes from some angles. Note: when this stone was cut and polished, an area of the stone has a natural blemish. This is not a crack, but a thin pit in the stone. It is not easily noteable unless inspected closely, but has been marked in the photo above. This is a solid opal (not a doublet or triplet).
Description: Well, as most things natural, this little opal has a slight blemish. It's hard to see, but it's there and so the price is lower to reflect that. Otherwise this opal, which is fairly large for a solid opal with no matrix, has a subtle personality. It is a white opal, and under the surface there is some nice red fire that flashes across most of the stone. Mixed in there is a tiny bit of green. Despite the blemish, it's still a lovely stone, and red fire is usually the least common and most desireable.
Please take a look at the Video demonstrating the flash in this stone:
