About Jennifer Miller "Nambroth"

Well, to be sure, I'm not that interesting a person, but if you're here than obviously you want to know a bit about me. I'm just an average girl with a passion for art.

My name is Jennifer Miller, all though some may know me by my online alias or "penname", Nambroth. This alias really has no particular meaning, it's simply one that I adopted when I was new to the internet and didn't want the world to know who I was. That was over ten years ago, amazing how time flies! I am married now to a delightful guy, and we still run around like third graders, making fart jokes. To create less confusion in regards to my art, I've kept my maiden name of Miller.

Location...
I currently reside somewhere on the magical east coast of the US, but I was born and raised in the western part of New York, near lake Erie, in the USA. It's a pretty rural area and I spend a lot of my time out in the woods. I draw a lot of inspiration from the land around me!

My art...
I'm currently 25 and am a professional artist. Professional only in that I earn the majority of my income from my artwork. This is not to say that I'm terribly good at what I do, I'm still very much learning, I hope I never stop learning! I am a contracted employee for Windstone Editions at the moment and I helped make the tutorial for the 'paint your own' line they are releasing, and I paint one of a kind pieces that they sell on eBay. I'm continually consuming all the information I can find both in books, and on the internet, about art and the creation process. For my digital art I use mostly Corel Painter with a Wacom tablet, and for my physical media art I use just about everything, from watercolors to oils, inks and markers to painting on feathers.

Other interests...
In addition to artwork, my hobbies include aviculture, fish keeping, and photography. I live with an amazing Bronze Wing Pionus parrot a Maximillian Pionus parrot, two cockatiels, and a crazy array of tropical fish. I've always loved, researched, and worked with birds, since I could walk and talk. This has led me down some interesting paths; I've volunteered and interned with the NYS DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation) several times through the years, and have helped with a number of things, from banding wild Wood Ducks, to releasing phaesants, to collecting fish scale samples. I was also lucky enough to volunteer to help net, band, and log information on wild birds at a nature center every weekend for a few years of my life. I worked at a few different pet stores though my life and was a Specialty lead at one (worked with aquatics, birds, small animals, and reptiles). I have several opinions on pet stores and the pet trade in general, but I don't think it very professional of me to voice them on my personal webpage. Needless to say, it was quite an experience and I became somewhat well known locally as "The bird lady". This led to some very interesting times; it seemed like I was making trips to the nature center several times a month to release wild birds that people had brought to me as "pets". Something else I really enjoyed was working with the fish, and especially creating lush natural planted tanks. I'm one of those folks that have probably spent double the amount on live plants than they have on fish.
Photography is also an interest of mine. I haven't had any guidance, so I'm still fumbling about with it a good bit. I don't have any plans on pursuing it outside of being a hobby.
I am also an avidGeocacher, which is an exciting hobby that is a bit of treasure hunting, hiking, and using a GPS all wrapped up into one.

Everything else...
I'm a pretty quiet person and I tend to be private and keep to myself, but if you'd like you're welcome to contact me. If there's something you'd like to know about me that's not covered here, check out the F.A.Q.; it's entirely likely you'll find the answer there!
